Throughout 2015 and 2016, Oslo Pilot will commission several artworks and events in the public realm. These projects have been termed art pilots—flexible, experimental models of exhibition and public engagement through which curators, urban planners, architects, and professionals from various disciplines can explore ways of structuring events and utilising city space and resources.
These art pilots will inform the scope and design of a future periodic art event in the city of Oslo by helping the curators better understand the limits and possibilities of the city’s public space, the multiple publics implicated, the potential for community partnerships, and the city’s urban infrastructure for transit, tourist information, and event promotion. Developed in collaboration with visual artists and professionals from other cultural fields, these commissions and events feature diverse forms of public engagement and presentational media.
